Here at Anytime Plumbing & Solutions, we want to help you keep your home as comfortable as possible, and fewer things are more important to your comfort than working toilets. While our experts can help you with any toilet repairs that you may need, the truth is that sooner or later you will need a full toilet replacement. In this article, our team will go over a few ways to tell when your toilets have reached the end of their lifespan so that you can be prepared for the prospect of replacing them.

How to Tell When It’s Time for Toilet Replacement

  • Frequent Clogs- While the occasional toilet clog is nothing to worry about, if you find that your toilet is getting clogged frequently–as in once a week or more–then it’s probably time for a toilet replacement. Similarly, if your toilet gets clogged seemingly at random, or if you feel like there’s something weird about how and why it becomes clogged, your best bet may be to replace it altogether.
  • Frequent Repairs- Another sign that you are due for a toilet replacement is frequent repairs. As with the clogging issue above, it’s normal if your toilet needs the occasional repair, but if you find yourself having to call the plumber frequently, then you may just need a new toilet. Alternatively, if your toilet needs multiple repairs all at once, it may be cheaper to replace it outright.
  • Wasteful Flushing- A third reason to get a toilet replacement is to conserve water. The average toilet uses anywhere from three to five gallons of water with every flush, while a low-flush toilet uses about two gallons. This difference really adds up over time, especially if you have a large household, so switching to a low-flush toilet can significantly reduce your water consumption and the bill that goes with it.
